BELIZE TIDBITS---FALL 2005

Last year, Florida was hit hard by the hurricanes and unfortunately this year it was the New Orleans area East to Alabama. At last report, 49 other nations had donated supplies, manpower and/or money to the relief efforts. It is sad to see so many displaced people with only the "shirts on their back". I am hopeful that all of you were able to contribute something to the relief efforts.

I am planning a short trip to Belize at the beginning of October. Let me know if you are planning to be there so possibly we can get together. I am particularly anxious to see all the new construction at Sittee Point and Hopkins.

The BBC was recently filming a documentary about retirement for UK citizens in Belize. It is my understanding that the majority of filming was at Sittee Point. If any of you in the UK could tape this for me on VHS or DVD, I would certainly be happy to reimburse you.

One of our property owners did send me a VHS tape of all of our propaganda that we used in the past to sell property. It was fun to reminisce about the early days selling acreage tracts in Estevez Works off the Old Northern Highway. In 1987, I took my first trip to Belize to look at Estevez and I asked a prospect if he was interested in buying. I will never forget his comment. He said "It is too primitive for me". There was part of the tape that I had not seen. It was narrated by one of our salespeople right after the roads were completed at Sittee Point. I can assure you that it was pretty rough looking and had not we cleared some of the lots you would have not been able to see the Caribbean.

Years ago, the GOB approved an airstrip about two miles from Sittee Point in the Sittee Village area. Since there is no money to build the small regional airport, one of our property owners has taken the initiative to raise money and build it with private funds. No construction timetable, but I will keep you informed. Another property owner is getting a permit from the GOB to dredge the mouth of the Sittee River and the Caribbean so boats with larger drafts can get in. This will be a big plus for everyone that lives along the River.

AVAILABLE PROPERTY-----I just want to mention that we only have one beachfront tract left in the entire subdivision and that is tract 13 and 13A in Section 4. Available for $149,900 with the canal in the rear for protected boat dockage. The hot commodities now are the Sittee River tracts for only $34,900.

TWO COMMERCIAL TRACTS

  1. 3 plus acre tract that wraps around the marina with 271 feet on the Sittee River and over 770 feet of canal frontage. $249,900 with terms.
  2. 19.7 acre tract that has approximately 1728 feet of Sittee River frontage and over a 1000 feet of road frontage. This would be a perfect tract for a fishing lodge, etc. $249,900 with terms

I promise that next time I will have a "Belize Factor" story for you.
