BELIZE TIDBITS---JANUARY, 2010 Happy New Year to All. Belize experiences very cold weather. On January 11, the Cayo District
recorded temperatures of 44 degrees F. That is cold for Belize and I was
amazed to find out that the record low for the country was 38 degrees and
that happened in 1960. I was really flabbergasted to read that the record
low was in the Punta Gorda area. Hope you had a blanket or maybe two if you
were in Belize. TV Recommendation----On Tuesday, January 19, the new "Wild
Recon" show on Animal Planet will feature a segment or the entire show
on Belize. I have only seen parts of this series, but it appears to be about
research. I do not think that any animals, reptiles, etc. are injured or
killed. You may want to check it out. BELIZE FACTOR---For you newcomers, this is simply another name for
"Murphy’s Law" (What can go wrong, will go wrong). I always try
to tell a story that is somewhat funny in nature, but this one is not. Many
years ago I was having lunch with one of my Belizean real estate friends.
There was a couple in their fifties sitting at the table next to us talking
about the new home they were building in Belize. We exchanged some small
talk with them and my buddy asked where they were building. I was not
familiar with the area. After the couple left, my buddy commented that the
area did not have enough neighbors to watch their house. A couple of years
passed and my buddy told me that the couple came back to Belize to retire in
their new home only to find the home partially dismantled. Someone had taken
a lot of the outside wood, windows, doors, all the plumbing, electrical
wire, etc. Weather and critters had ruined most of the interior. Since
Belize is still a poor country, try to build in area that is not too remote;
unless you can afford a full time caretaker. Of course this would probably
also apply to the rest of Central America. In fact, over the last 20 years,
I have met a lot of people from other Central American countries that have
moved to Belize for various reasons; and the only people that I know
personally, left Belize for other countries were trying to escape criminal
or civil prosecution. Sittee Point Beach Front Lots---I have Caribbean lots in Phase 2 and 4
for sell. The Phase 2 lots have 50 feet of frontage and the Phase 4 lots
have 75 feet with a canal in the rear for boat dockage. In addition, I have
three continuous lots in Phase 2 for someone that needs a lot of Caribbean
frontage. I have a few ocean view lots in Phase 2 for $29,900 USD. Contact
me for more information. If you have any questions about Belize, call me at 512-271-1653(Texas
Phone). I still get too many emails from people that I do not even know
wanting me to divulge confidential information; but, I will always be happy
to talk to anyone. Till next time. Ron Forrester
