Late Breaking News----Our email newsletter
outgrew the capabilities of Compuserve, so I was forced to another server.
Hope it works OK. In other Belize news, actor Leonardo DiCaprio just
bought Blackador Caye in Belize. The Government of Belize has raised the
stamp duty from 10% to 15% for all foreigners.
If you don’t think that it can be a small
world, then take time to ponder this. The fence is being replaced at our
Austin office and I was talking to the contractor who I had met many years
ago. When I told him that I was selling real estate in Belize, he started
chuckling and pointed to one of his crew. Sure enough, he introduced me to
a Mr. I. Contreras from Santa Elena in the Cayo District.
SHORT BELIZE FACTOR STORIES
1. Sometime in the last 60 days, the area
around Orange Walk Town was pelted by hail. I imagine that some people
thought the world was coming to an end.
2. A Taxi Cab driver was parked in Belize
City, waiting on his next fare when a light standard suddenly fell down
on his cab. Luckily, he was not injured.
3. Lan Sluder of BelizeFirst.com,
commented the other day about Emory King’s 2005 edition of the Drivers
Guide. One of the new articles was "How the Fax Was Won", a
lengthy and humorous tale of the trials and tribulations of getting a
fax machine into the country for a Chinese official---must reading for
anyone thinking of doing business or living in Belize.
SITTEE POINT UPDATE----We only have two
beachfront lots left in Section 4 and we are completely sold out in
Sections 1 and 2. We still have some choice Sittee River lots for $34,900
and we will finance for 20 years. Don’t forget that the summertime is
probably the best time to look at real estate. It is hot and humid. If you
like Belize then, you will love Belize from November thru April. For the
remainder of the summer we will finance all ocean view and river view lots
in Sections 2 and 3 with only 10% down.
ARTICLES ON BELIZE----These are some
interesting newspaper articles that I have read recently in case you want
to do some research.
Austin-American Statesman, April 17, 2005:
"Unbelievable BELIZE" by K.C. Summers of The Washington Post.
Houston Chronicle, May 24, 2005:
"Mayan salt factory, canoe paddle stir archaeologists" by Thomas
H. Maugh II of the Los Angeles Times.
Many of you are always requesting
information on Hopkins Village that is only 4 miles from Sittee Point. You
may want to check out the following websites: www.cometohopkins.com,
www.hopkinsvillage.com,
and www.hopkinsbelize.com.
PRIME COMMERCIAL TRACT FOR SALE-----The
property that surrounds the marina at Sittee Point is for sale:
Approximately 3+ acres, canal is on two sides of this tract, with 271 feet
of Sittee River frontage. Bar/restaurant, additional boat storage
possibilities. $250,000 USD, with terms.
Not sure when my next trip to Belize will
be, but probably in August or September. Be sure and let me know if you
are planning to be there during these two months.
You Better Belize It.
